The Interdisciplinary Research Institute emerges in response to a profound gap in locally grounded, high-quality research essential for national development, peacebuilding, and governance reform. For too long, policy decisions have been shaped without adequate evidence or without the insights of South Sudanese scholars and communities. IRI is established to confront this deficit by producing credible knowledge, cultivating emerging researchers, and offering an independent platform for analysis and dialogue. Its overarching purpose is to strengthen South Sudan’s domestic research capacity, enhance evidence-based decision-making, and contribute to the creation of a more stable, inclusive, and forward-looking future for the nation.
