Ladu Lemi is a Climate Change Specialist for the Global Environment Facility (GEF), one of the Organizations of the World Bank Group. His current work focusses on climate adaptation needs of the Least Developed Countries and Small Island Developing States in Africa and the Caribbean through the Least Developed Countries Fund (LDCF) and Special Climate Change Fund (SCCF).

Prior to joining the GEF, Ladu served as Program Officer with the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) between 2019 and 2022 in Nairobi, where he supported the implementation of UNEP-European Commission partnership program on Multilateral Environmental Agreements capacity building in the African, Caribbean, and Pacific regions. Ladu had also served as Program Officer for the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and held other roles with different international organizations including the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the German Development Agency (GIZ), among others, where he focused on agriculture, environment and livelihoods development in South Sudan. Earlier in his career, he worked as a Lecturer at the University of Juba in South Sudan, where he conducted research and taught courses in biotechnology, genetic science, and the environment.

A South Sudanese national, Ladu was a Chevening and Open Society Leadership Award Fellow at the University of East Anglia, UK and the Central European University, Hungary, where he received his MSc in plant genetics and crop improvement, and an MSc in environmental science and policy, respectively. Ladu also holds a BSc in agricultural biotechnology from Ain Shams University, Egypt, and a Diploma in Global Project Management from Brentwood Open Learning College, UK.
